Canyon View Event Center, situated in San Ramon, CA is the setting for this gorgeous, heart-filled wedding!
The venue presents breathtaking city and canyon panoramas of the Tri-Valley, both indoors and outdoors. In short, it’s a photographer’s dream.
It was my first time shooting at Canyon View Event Center so I did some research about what this space offers.
In this article, as well as sharing photos from Jacqueline & Asad’s wedding, I’ll also share with you what I learned about this elegant San Ramon wedding venue.

About Canyon View Event Center for weddings
As well as those views, the sophisticated ballroom offers a spacious dance floor, beautiful chandeliers and a grand, sweeping stage. Additionally, there are two patios ideal for cocktail hours. This private estate is a full-service venue, accompanied by Italian American cuisine.
Upon entering the San Ramon venue, visitors are greeted by neutral colors and hedges. Inside, the subdued color scheme is complemented by a white ceiling adorned with dark cherry wood beams that form parallel lines along the room’s periphery.
Double doors open onto an outdoor patio featuring decorative light posts, roses, and unobstructed daytime views that give way to twinkling city lights at nightfall. The windows can be enhanced with sheer or opulent fabric elements.

Is Canyon View Event Center an indoor or outdoor venue?
The venue offers outdoor ceremony and cocktail locations. The reception takes place indoors. Guests have access to all outdoor view terraces throughout the event.
Is there parking at Canyon View Event Center
There is a large, private, free parking lot located on-site for the exclusive use of guests. Even for large weddings, parking shouldn’t be an issue as there are hundreds of parking spots. The parking lot is located directly in front of the venue.
What kinds of weddings is Canyon View Event Center best for?
Large weddings of over 150 guests tend to work best here, though I’ve seen some info online that they’ve started offering intimate wedding packages.
As it’s a full-service venue, traditional weddings that follow the typical wedding day structure tend to work the best.
When using this venue, employing the services of a skilled wedding planner is highly recommended. Due to the size of most weddings that will be drawn to this spot, adding a second photographer is also recommended.
There is one rental area available, meaning that when you book the Canyon View Event Center, it’s a full buyout with no other groups also on site.

Pre-ceremony events
Jacqueline & Asad’s wedding was the follow-up to the previous day’s sangeet celebration. That was such a fantastic event all in itself, and I’ve included the link the full blog post with more photos from the nearby Amador Rancho Community Center below:
This wedding was the more traditional Western wedding. It was a very typical wedding day, which started with getting ready (at nearby San Ramon Marriott, which I highly recommend for its proximity to the venue and its high standard).
I was with the girls, while the second photographer captured the guys. The hotel had a beautiful yard area at the back, which enabled me to capture most of the bridesmaids’ photos there. Then we traveled the short distance to Canyon View Event Center and staged a first look on site.
There was a ‘joke first look’ with the couple’s dog, Mia, placed where the bride would have been. It definitely caught Asad by surprise!
We completed most of the family photos (excluding extended family groupings) pre-ceremony, then proceeded with the ceremony on the lawn.
Having a second photographer was a godsend here, because it allowed for so many great viewpoints of one of the key moments of the wedding day – the wedding party walking down the aisle. There’s a long aisle at this venue, so it’s worth capturing the walk from different angles.
Post-ceremony events
During cocktail hour, I completed the extended family photos on the back patio, while the second photographer was free to capture the taco truck in the parking lot out the front as well as the reception area that was being set up.
The couple had a grand entrance with their large wedding party also included with various songs and dances. There were toasts a-plenty!
They had a twist on the traditional ‘table visits’, in which groupings that wanted photos came to them, rather than the couple being the ones to run around. After, there was a ‘Mia’s Mega Millions drawing’, a fun game named for their dog, which was like a trivia/ lottery game where names were drawn to win prizes.
The couple was so good at taking care of their guests that the end of the night saw a ‘shop’ being set up, named Mia’s Mini Mart. This was both an homage to Asad’s family’s corner shop, and also a way of ensuring everyone was well-fed as they left for the night.
The final event was a sparkler send off which was held outside the front of the venue in the parking lot! That was a nice touch and way to end a spectacular day.
It was an absolutely lavish event, quite a change from the more relaxed, casual weddings we usually shoot!
The look and feel of this wedding is in large part due not only to the vision of the bride, but having such an incredible planner to pull it off with such finesse. JoJo from Sixteen Fourteen Events came all the way from Los Angeles to coordinate this wedding!
