Destination engagement photos from Sedona, AZ

I took a trip to Sedona, Arizona around Christmas time 2018 and I managed to sneak in a destination engagement session with these cuties!

It’s been my experience too many times now that whenever I’m visiting a gorgeous place, I’m all too aware of what’s missing. A beautiful couple standing in front of me!

Melody and Noah had just got engaged! They said yes to an engagement shoot with me in the beautiful Sedona, AZ.

It may have been a destination engagement shoot for me, but this is the couple’s home, a place very close to their hearts.

Airport Mesa engagement photos

Airport Mesa was our chosen location. It doesn’t sound like it’d be a gorgeous nature spot, but it is! The day before, I’d scoped out the viewpoint I would have loved to shoot.

On the morning of the shoot itself, the small hill a short walk from the parking lot was already packed with sunrise photographers.

We ended up not even being able to park at the desired parking area, as even at 6.30am, the lot was totally full.

While we didn’t get a chance to go to that viewpoint on the day of, we took advantage of different spots!

So we used a different parking lot and walked up a trail that runs parallel to the road. It was secluded and offered pretty views in both directions just as the sun was rising.

The sky was on fire with pink, purple then orange! Shooting in unfamiliar locations is a great challenge for me as a wedding photographer. I didn’t know what to expect at this time of day and loved seeing it!

Finding different spots on the Airport Mesa trail

We avoided the crowded hill and instead chose the path less traveled. We had a different grand vista all to ourselves!

Airport Loop Trail really is SO stunning.

The area just happens to be the site of an energy vortex known as the Airport Mesa Vortex.

A beautiful moment was when the sun began to peek over the distant mountains and we captured some particularly joyful, candid captures of Melody & Noah standing on a rock platform.

This engaged couple’s wedding plans!

The earth-loving couple is planning to tie the knot soon in Hawaii! I couldn’t be more thrilled for them as they embark on the rest of their lives loving each other and their beloved Sedona.

I’m so happy that they let me into their worlds. Despite the freezing cold they were such troopers and I loved witnessing their love for each other.

Um, guys it was 27° throughout the shoot! As a San Francisco dweller that is super cold for me.

This shoot was a fun, creative challenge! Hope you loved seeing a bit of these destination engagement photos.
