Gay spaces are important. None is gayer or more fabulous than Oasis nightclub, San Francisco.
Oasis nightclub is one of those iconic gay spaces – a sprawling nightspot located in a former bathhouse, featuring cabaret & drag shows, DJs & dance parties.
Oasis is a space for joy, inclusion and celebration of queer identity.
Our couple, regular patrons and performers Chris (he/him) and Pablo (he/him) got married here in September 2022 and let me tell you, their wedding was fabulous!
When they couple reached out, they gave me a vision of the wedding: “drag performers, dancing, and a lot of queer fashion”. It did NOT disappoint!

About the wedding couple
This was a really special wedding, a really special couple. Chris and Pablo were friends for three years and got engaged at the end of 2020.
They are both big on family and community. Their wedding was about their friends and families getting together to celebrate their love, and they were joined by about 120 of their nearest and dearest.
Both of them are huge Real Housewives fans! So naturally, the at-home photos had to include some shots of them watching their fave TV show on the couch together. They live near Dolores Park with their dog, Debbie. Dolores Park was also a spot for those pre-ceremony romantics.
One of our associate photographers captured all their wedding day events, having previously photographed the couple’s friends’ wedding! Chris and Pablo loved the photojournalistic style of those photos, with lots of candid and poignant moments of people hugging and hanging out.
About Oasis nightclub for your wedding
If you’re considering booking Oasis for your wedding, you’re probably aware of what this space offers, but here’s a quick refresher.
Oasis in San Francisco’s SOMA district is owned by D’Arcy Drollinger (and was originally co-founded back in 2015 by the legendary late Heklina – rest in fabulousness).
It’s an internationally acclaimed theater/ cabaret/ nightclub showcasing the best of gay culture, and has been voted Best Drag Show and Best Nightclub in SF.
You can catch diverse performances like drag stars, cabaret, performing artists, live music, DJs, theater productions, dance parties and of course fab COCKtails.
And of course, you can get married in this cathedral of drag!
Can you have drag at your wedding? Yes! You can have your own custom drag show with an opening number by all performers together plus individual numbers by each Queen.
You’ll get your own MC to keep the show rolling and warm up the crowd as well as go-go dancers, walk-around entertainment, photo-ops, make-up tutorial and dance parties as optional extras.
Spaces within Oasis nightclub
The newly renovated Main Space includes an elegant Jewel Box stage with drawable crimson curtains and a customizable LCD wall backdrop. We love weddings here, with its premium location, eclectic design and full event services.
The location is super duper, being close to Muni stops, BART and freeways. It’s super spacious, with 8,000 square feet of main space including the rooftop.
While we didn’t get to use this area for Chris and Pablo’s wedding, it has a 20 X 20 wall projection surface as well as AV, space for dancing, heaters, lounge furniture and a full bar.
There’s a Champagne Room with crystal chandeliers, a stage, full AV and a bar and coat check.
You can even have guests joining remotely thanks to the venue’s live-streaming capabilities.

Order of events
We had to pivot quite a bit as the ceremony was meant to be on the roof, but rain stopped play.
Rain also affected the photo locations that the grooms had planned to shoot at pre-ceremony. There was a brief break in the rain which was enough for our photographer to snap some shots of them at their fave hangout, Dolores Park.
Also pre-ceremony, they wanted to get some photos of them all hanging out as a family – Pablo, Chris and Debbie. These had more of an unposed, lifestyle feel to them which we love to lean into.
Before long it was off to Oasis and the new indoor plan. They wanted getting-ready photos backstage alongside Peaches Christ, their officiant.
There was the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner followed by three drag performances, plus the grooms’ own performance.
This wedding was a riot of fun and queer joy. We loved photographing Pablo and Chris – and can’t wait for our next wild Oasis SF wedding.
