With weddings changed forever, many brides want to at least experiment with a lower-cost option to see what’s out there. We are so used to buying what we need from Amazon, I really wanted to see what bohemian-style dresses they have!
After creating this post about DIY downsized wedding items, I was shocked and happy to see yes, there really are beautiful wedding dresses available on Amazon.
But that post has some well-known brands, and I wanted to dive into some no-name brands in this article. Why? Well, the price tags are so low because the manufacturers focus more on churning out dresses and less on branding and marketing.
Yep, the price tags for some of these Amazon dresses can be so low, so what gives?
Well, ladies, you know me. I have to keep it real and be 100% honest with you folx.

What you need to know about buying a wedding dress on Amazon
When you are looking at low-priced wedding dresses, you have to be extra careful in doing your due diligence. Why? Well, many dress manufacturers will simply replicate a style that they have seen elsewhere.
The pictures they advertise the dresses with, are pictures of the originals, not the copies that the Chinese manufacturers recreate.
Sometimes it’s a hit and sometimes it misses the mark.
Quality of fabric is sometimes what is skimped on, so you won’t know for sure if your dress is the one until you feel it against your skin.
To help you out I have compiled these 7 tips when wedding dress shopping on Amazon. I know a lot of this stuff is common knowledge, but I do want to avoid any issues you may encounter if going the cheaper route.
Everything on my list right here has a rating of 4 stars or higher at the time of writing.
Tips for wedding dress shopping on Amazon
- Start your dress shopping early. Like way, way early! Some dresses can take a long time to arrive if they’re being shipped from China. You may not hit on the right dress first time, or second time, so you can see how the time stacks up.
- Also allow time for alterations that may need to be made locally once the dress arrives. And if you get it done early, be sure to try on your dress about two weeks before the wedding to ensure you don’t need to make further adjustments.
- Another reason you need to allow more time – there is a chance that Amazon dresses will not work for you, in which case make sure you allow time for going the traditional route when it comes to purchasing your dress.
- Be clear on the sizing and don’t rely on Amazon’s generic ‘sizing guide’ which is linked on every listing. Take a close look at the seller’s own guidance on sizing which may be in one of the image photos, description or the Q&A section. Chinese sizing often runs much, much smaller than Western sizing. Sizing up by one or two sizes is pretty common.
- Always check the returns policy in detail. If anything is unclear, contact the seller before purchasing. Sometimes you may need to ship the dress back at your own cost – if the dress is going to China that can be costly.
- Purchase multiple dresses in different sizes in one go to avoid multiple rounds of long shipping times. Just make absolutely sure you can return any that don’t fit.
- If a dress doesn’t have many reviews, take a look at that seller’s store and see the reviews for their other items. See if they are reputable and tend to sell good quality merchandise.
There’s no harm in seeing what’s out there! Maybe it won’t be for you but it’s an option worth exploring.
The good part about buying an Amazon boho wedding dress
Chinese dress sellers on Amazon will make each dress to order. They are almost always very amenable to making any adjustments you want! Yes, seriously! I was surprised to learn this myself.
If you want any changes to your dress – long sleeves, a different neckline, a different length train, another type of fastening or even different colors, the seller will more than likely be happy to make the dress according to your exact specifications.
And, it probably goes without saying, but every wedding dress is able to be made to your exact measurements. So though you are paying a cheaper price, you’re getting a tailored dress! Pretty cool, huh?
With most sellers out there having very reasonable returns policies these days to be able to sell on Amazon, there is actually little risk to you. And you might end up with a gorgeous boho wedding dress that set you back less than $200!

Often, ivory is the better color to go for when it comes to affordable wedding dresses – white ones can have an unfortunate blue shine which doesn’t photograph as well as warmer shades.
